Fireworks and Shooting Stars

In my story, there are no bloodbaths. I know people love the fireworks, the big events. But I don’t have them and I won’t lie about it.

I can invite you to hunt for shooting stars instead. You have to train your eyes (and soul) to see them. One by one.

There are no visceral visuals, no smoke, no noise. There is also no crowd here as opposed to watching fireworks. It’s likely only you noticed some of them.

Shooting stars aren’t that exciting or enjoyable to watch. Sometimes you can feel numb while looking for them. It’s captivating but why? It’s hard to put your finger on it.

Meteors are real and they happen even if nobody believes you saw one. They exist and the sheer force of them makes them disappear in an instant.

And let’s not forget they sometimes survive a trip through the atmosphere and hit the ground. Some people are still in denial, no matter the consequences.

If you want to be sure, ask the dinosaurs.
